Boys and Girls Clubs of Santa Cruz County

Organization Mission

The mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Cruz County is to inspire and enable all children, especially those who need us most, to build character and confidence and to realize their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens.

We do this by providing safe places filled with opportunity, enriching programs, and caring adults who actively cultivate relationships to ensure that our youth feel connected, supported and valued. Our programs focus on educational, vocational, recreational, health & wellness, social and character development of youth ages 6 to 18.

Our staff, Club facilities, and age-appropriate settings create a place of physical and emotional safety and foster a sense of belonging for our youth members. We offer daily after school programs five days-a-week at our downtown Santa Cruz, Live Oak, and Scotts Valley Clubhouses. In addition, we host summer and holiday day camps and offer a wide range of special interest programs.

The Big Idea 2024:
Club Scholarships to Support Local Youth and Working Families

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Cruz County’s BIG IDEA for 2024 is to ensure that local kids have access to affordable, high-quality, out-of-school programs where they can learn, grow, and thrive alongside caring adult mentors.

Requests for financial assistance have risen significantly over the past year, and our donor-funded scholarship program helps ensure that we’re able to meet our community’s needs while providing local youth with access to the resources and support they need to succeed in school and in life, regardless of their family’s financial circumstances.

Club staff mentors are trained to provide emotional support, academic guidance, and positive role modeling to our members. Our goal is to empower young people to become leaders in their communities, with the skills and confidence to make a positive impact on the world around them. And our data indicates that we’re on track: 86% of our Club kids report receiving mostly A’s and B’s in school, and 84% say they can stand up for what’s right, even if their friends disagree.

With your support, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of hundreds of Santa Cruz County families

They have gotten to know my child as an individual. He loves going there and feels respected and cared for. From the moment the walking bus picks him up at school to the minute I pick him up, I know that he is with people who care about him, encourage his growth and work to help him be his best person.
