Families In Transition of Santa Cruz County

Organization Mission

To join with other service providers in a community-wide effort to end and prevent homelessness in Santa Cruz County. Families In Transition works in partnership with families who are experiencing homelessness or who are at risk of experiencing homelessness in order to support stable housing and assist them in becoming both self-reliant and interdependent members of the community.

The Big Idea 2022:

Our project will help families in our program with essential expenses that restrictive government funding leaves out. Necessary expenses include pajamas, bedding, cleaning supplies, and nutritious food to fill the fridge.

With Set Up for Success, donors choose the amount they’d like to donate and will know how our organization benefits a family in need:

$50 provides groceries for a family of 4
$100 provides groceries and cleaning supplies for a family of 4
$250 provides groceries, cleaning supplies and clothing for a family of 4
$500 provides the essentials that help make a house a home

I wouldn’t be in the place that I am now. Mentally, physically, and financially. As a single mother, my priorities were only for my children; FIT reminded me that I mattered too. When I was pregnant with my fourth child, I didn’t have the resources to house my family. FIT provided and helped me find everything I needed in order to be where I am now; sustaining my own home and raising my thriving family.

We’re In This Together

Nonprofits are more important that ever in this trying time. Santa Cruz Gives! was created to support the local nonprofit community's Big Ideas (and programs). And thanks to your participation and generosity, Santa Cruz Gives! raised over $1.10 million for 82 local nonprofits in 2021.

SCGives! has now raised and contributed over $36 million dollars since its inception Seven years ago. That’s astounding. And wonderful. Thank you to all our Partners, Sponsors, nonprofit Board Directors, staff and volunteers — and each of our 1,455 donors. We did it, together.
