We Did It!

And please come back in November, 2022!
Inspired by Shakespeare, we create and strengthen community by bringing audiences and theater artists together to celebrate stories about our collective humanity.
Our goal is to ensure that every single high school student in Santa Cruz County has seen a live, professional production of a Shakespeare play by the time they graduate. Often, schools run into transportation difficulties when planning a field trip to enjoy a play at The Grove, and parents may not have a vehicle or the ability to miss work. We hope to alleviate the expense by providing funds for buses.
Santa Cruz Shakespeare extends its summer season into September each year to offer student-only matinees for high schools. It gives many students their first opportunity to enjoy a professionally-produced play or a classic performance in an outdoor theater, and many teachers want their students to attend Santa Cruz Shakespeare’s Matinee Week. They tell us they’re excited to bring students to see the same productions they enjoy each summer.
Please help us support schools-in-need and expand current opportunities to more students.
Attending the Santa Cruz Shakespeare production helped students get out of their comfort zone and learn. We talked about the dedication of actors learning their lines, the costume and set designers making their ideas come to life and many of the other aspects it takes to put on a production. Santa Cruz Shakespeare helped drive home these points and had a positive impact at our school.
