Vets 4 Vets Santa Cruz

Organization Mission

Vets 4 Vets is a nonprofit by and for local veterans along with supportive friends who create community and assist our brothers and sisters in need.

Our work is to provide funding to fill the gaps left by government and other organizations. These gaps may include the need for emergency food, transportation, home repairs and emergency housing. We also provide activities and services designed to break the isolation of veteran participants.

The Big Idea 2022:
Computer Lab Updates for Veterans

We are asking for support for our big idea, which is to purchase new computers to update our veterans’ computer lab located in the Santa Cruz Veterans Memorial Building. This computer lab allows all veterans access to the internet, enabling them to perform essential tasks such as accessing email, searching for housing and employment, and learning to use basic software programs (Microsoft Office).

We operate with one part-time staff person and 80 volunteers. Vets 4 Vets is trusted and effective in its responsiveness to the needs of veterans and their families living in Santa Cruz County.

I am a post-9/11 combat veteran with two deployments. While attending school at UCSC, I incurred some unexpected expenses which put my enrollment and housing in jeopardy. Vets 4 Vets assisted me to cover these expenses which was essential for my housing, income, and enrollment. The assistance was beyond what I imagined, and I have since been able to volunteer my time with Vets 4 Vets. I am very grateful this organization exists.

We’re In This Together

Nonprofits are more important that ever in this trying time. Santa Cruz Gives! was created to support the local nonprofit community's Big Ideas (and programs). And thanks to your participation and generosity, Santa Cruz Gives! raised over $1.10 million for 82 local nonprofits in 2021.

SCGives! has now raised and contributed over $36 million dollars since its inception Seven years ago. That’s astounding. And wonderful. Thank you to all our Partners, Sponsors, nonprofit Board Directors, staff and volunteers — and each of our 1,455 donors. We did it, together.
