BalanceSCC enriches the lives of people with unique needs through compassionate care solutions, collaborative giving, and community.
Our Teacher Grant Fund grants more than $25,000 in supplies annually directly to local teachers and service providers for items they need but cannot afford. Typical items are Chromebooks, iPads, therapeutic chairs and swings, etc.
We typically gift to approximately 60 local teachers/specialists who each work with 30-200+ students with unique needs each year. We raise the funds from the community to support this effort. We have also given free training to more than 100 local educators for school staff to help children learn constructive ways to handle crisis.
Friendship and fellowship are key to a good life, as well as education, and they help young people develop skills to be successful, contributing members of their workplaces and communities. We run an after-school program and a day program for adults to provide equitable access to friendships and community for young people with unique needs.
The grant you provided helped me to teach spelling and reading concepts to middle school students in an interactive and multisensory way. Students have been engaged and growing in their reading and writing skills — some have made two years of growth in reading!
