Boys and Girls Clubs of Santa Cruz County

Organization Mission

The mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Cruz County is to inspire and enable all children, especially those who need us most, to build character and confidence and to realize their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens.

We do this by providing safe places filled with opportunity, enriching programs, and caring adults who actively cultivate relationships to ensure that our youth feel connected, supported and valued. Our programs focus on educational, vocational, recreational, health & wellness, social and character development of youth ages 6 to 18.

Our staff, Club facilities, and age-appropriate settings create a place of physical and emotional safety and foster a sense of belonging for our youth members. We offer daily after-school programs five days a week at our downtown Santa Cruz, Live Oak, and Scotts Valley Clubhouses. We host summer and holiday day camps and offer a range of special interest programs.

The Big Idea 2023:
Power Hour and SMART Moves Programs

Our clubhouse-wide “Power Hour” program complements and reinforces what youth learn at school via daily 60-minute sessions in which every member at the club receives homework help, tutoring, or participates in self-directed learning.

We support social-emotional learning and help youth strengthen healthy decision-making, boost self-esteem, avoid risky behaviors, develop assertiveness, analyze media and peer influence, and build resilience.

With your support, we can develop these programs, keep school year membership fees to $75/year, and never turn away any child for inability to pay thanks to our donor-supported scholarship fund. All club services are available to all youth, regardless of race, socioeconomic status, family situation, or mental or physical ability.

The Club is a home away from home. We allow creative flow of children's minds and help them find their spark and where they want to go in life.
