CCOF Foundation

Organization Mission

The CCOF Foundation advances organic agriculture to support people and communities that care for the land. We offer education, financial support, and growth opportunities for organic professionals.

The CCOF Foundation supports the Santa Cruz-based California Certified Organic Farmers, where we advance organic agriculture for a healthy world through organic certification, education, advocacy, and promotion.

The Big Idea 2022:
Hardship Assistance for Organic Farmers & Processors

Farmers—and especially organic farmers—operate on razor-thin margins that are especially stressed during hard times. Our Bricmont Hardship Assistance Fund gives grants to organic farmers to help them weather difficult times. In 2020, we received four times as many applications than in any other year, and the community support we received allowed us to give $89,000 to those farmers.

One of the beneficiaries of this fund in 2020 was Sea to Sky Farm, local growers of organic fruit, vegetables, and herbs. They lost their orchard, equipment, and farm facilities to the wildfire. Our financial assistance helped to make it possible for farmers Chris and Dana Laughlin to recover and continue farming.

Join us in helping these vital members of our community when they need our support the most.

At a time when our farm needed it the most, following the CZU Lightning Fire Complex, we were granted relief funds from CCOF's Foundation. Those funds helped us rebuild from the fire, which damaged critical infrastructure at the farm. We're very grateful for the CCOF Foundation's support.

We’re In This Together

Nonprofits are more important that ever in this trying time. Santa Cruz Gives! was created to support the local nonprofit community's Big Ideas (and programs). And thanks to your participation and generosity, Santa Cruz Gives! raised over $1.10 million for 82 local nonprofits in 2021.

SCGives! has now raised and contributed over $36 million dollars since its inception Seven years ago. That’s astounding. And wonderful. Thank you to all our Partners, Sponsors, nonprofit Board Directors, staff and volunteers — and each of our 1,455 donors. We did it, together.
