Your Future Is Our Business

Organization Mission

Your Future is Our Business partners with local educational institutions — kindergarten through college — to provide career exploration opportunities for all students in Santa Cruz County. Our goal is to bring these opportunities to school campuses to reduce barriers such as a lack of transportation that create inequity.

Students are motivated when they understand the connection between their classes and future career possibilities. We provide real-world exposure, invaluable hands-on experience, and connect youth to adults who can assist them with finding their path.

The Big Idea 2022:
LINK SantaCruz.org

YFIOB will support students by connecting them to community members working in all 15 industry sectors recognized in California. Introducing students to a variety of careers early on allows them robust, hands-on experiences. We do this by offering in-person services such as career fairs, panels, job shadowing, internships, and mentorships.

One of the gaps for our schools is to be able to access these LINKS at a moment’s notice. Your support will help us to create LINK Santa Cruz.org where vital information will be available any time. This online platform would connect schools and businesses, and give teachers access to career-based curriculum, business LINKS and community opportunities for students. It would also house virtual tours of companies and other tools for use in curriculum.

In the modern, shifting workplace, we help students make informed decisions that empower them to forge careers and become Santa Cruz County’s next generation of workers.

I joined YFIOB because I wanted to pay it forward. YFIOB allows me to be the encouraging leader cheering for Santa Cruz County youth. I encourage young people to listen to their passion and follow it – they are the authors of their future plans and goals. Be grounded in who you are and write your story!

We’re In This Together

Nonprofits are more important that ever in this trying time. Santa Cruz Gives! was created to support the local nonprofit community's Big Ideas (and programs). And thanks to your participation and generosity, Santa Cruz Gives! raised over $1.10 million for 82 local nonprofits in 2021.

SCGives! has now raised and contributed over $36 million dollars since its inception Seven years ago. That’s astounding. And wonderful. Thank you to all our Partners, Sponsors, nonprofit Board Directors, staff and volunteers — and each of our 1,455 donors. We did it, together.
