An all-volunteer organization, our mission is to connect people to nature, to their community, to each other, and to themselves through bike riding. We break down barriers to entry by providing equipment, coaching and access to trails at no cost to participants.
In the past year, Community Bike Collective has given away 100+ refurbished bikes, hosted safety rodeos at schools, participated in pump track events, taught at least 10 youth to ride a bike, and hosted 600 people on bike rides, many of whom had never experienced a redwood forest. We can do more with your help!
Currently, there are no pathways for underserved youth in Santa Cruz County to get regularly involved in cycling and progress their skills in a supportive and community-building setting. Our idea is to build “CBC Pathways” that offers youth a progression of coordinated cycling skills with opportunities to earn badges, cycling gear and even a bike as they complete designated Pathway levels. The goal of CBC Pathways is to move youth from basic bike handling skills to engaging them in a lifelong activity that boosts physical and mental health, reinforces valuable life skills and builds community.
You have provided students with a mode of transportation and a sense of empowerment and possibility. They are enjoying the exercise, the freedom, and the adventure bikes offer. We are deeply grateful for the positive effects on students.
