Community Bridges

Organization Mission

Community Bridges is the leading nonprofit agency addressing poverty in our county. Our family of 10 programs delivers essential services, provides equitable access to resources and advocates for health and dignity across every stage of life. In 22-23, we served 22,000 community members, 80% of whom earned incomes below 100% Federal Poverty Level (FPL), or $13,590 per household annually.

Our program “Elderday Adult Day Health Care” empowers elders to live with greater independence and dignity. Adults in our community benefit from health care services, respite and companionship in a community-based setting for a fraction of the cost of assisted living and nursing home care.

The Big Idea 2024:
Seniors Stay Active at Elderday

After operating in Santa Cruz for 40+ years, Elderday has relocated to downtown Watsonville. Our new center at 501 Main Street serves the growing population of low-income older adults, allowing them to live in their own homes and stay out of costly
institutional care.

This project supports indoor and outdoor activities at the new Elderday Adult Day Health Care center. Physical activities and mental stimulation, along with regular social interaction, improve health outcomes for older and disabled adults managing complex medical conditions, including dementia.

Your donation supports engaging, enriching activities in a fun and supportive community. Our newly renovated, expanded facility offers so many options that we can’t wait to offer to new and returning participants.

At Elderday they encourage us to keep up our activities to the best of our ability. I think that's very encouraging to us because we're not being told ‘Oh no, don't do that you might fall.’ In a safe situation, they say ‘Go for it!’ It's so free to us, to have that kind of push to stay active. Don't be afraid.
