County Park Friends

Organization Mission

Our mission is to preserve, protect, improve and promote the use of Santa Cruz County parks and open spaces for recreational activities, arts and cultural activities to benefit all generations in our diverse community.

We have two lines of work:
1. People: Programs (Educational, Access Grants, and ParkRx)
2. Places: Capital improvements ($$ raised, then granted to Parks Dept.)

The Big Idea 2024:
Treasure Cove at Jade Street Park

Help build a place where children of all abilities can play together! Treasure Cove at Jade Street Park will be a playground designed to foster compassion, acceptance, connectedness and joy.

One out of every ten children and two out of every ten individuals in the general population have a disability. Every child, parent, grandparent and caregiver deserves to have a place to play with their friends and families that is designed to accommodate their needs.

The universally designed playground will have a marine and shoreline theme with inclusive equipment such as swings, a wheelchair-accessible merry-go-round, slides, and a cozy dome placed over colorful, rubberized surfacing.

We are raising $1 million to make this dream a reality. Our SC Gives goal is to raise at least $20,000. Your generosity in supporting this playground is an investment that will positively impact generations of individuals and our community.

This playground will provide an inclusive, accessible space for children of all abilities to play, learn, and grow together. As a strong advocate for inclusivity and accessibility, I believe this project will have a profoundly positive impact on the lives of our residents, especially those with disabilities.
