The Diversity Center inspires and advocates for the LGBTQ+ people of Santa Cruz County by providing critical services, spaces, education and events that enhance our community’s well-being, allowing individuals to build resiliency and thrive.
“Never the Last Love Letter” is a documentary produced by The Diversity Center with talented local volunteer filmmakers that explores the untold stories of those who fought to save lives in Santa Cruz during the AIDS crisis. Through personal interviews, archival footage, and historical artifacts, the film captures the creativity, courage, and defiance of the LGBTQ+ community. The documentary connects this history to today’s struggles, illustrating how grassroots activism can transform public health and advance human dignity.
The documentary will be released in the summer of 2025, along with the Threads of Love art exhibit at the Santa Cruz Museum of Art and History, which will display panels of the AIDS Memorial Quilt. Please join us in presenting local stories of resilience, hope, and rebellion.
Telling the story of the AIDS crisis in Santa Cruz captures a remarkable chapter of compassion and unity in our community's history. It is deeply personal for me. I am honored to participate in this project.
