Eat for the Earth makes it easier for people to eat more plants and less animal products to sustain all life on Earth.
Many are becoming aware that dietary choices impact the environment by contributing to the climate crisis, species loss, water pollution, deforestation, and more. Simultaneously, diet-caused conditions such as diabetes and heart disease lead to disability and early death for too many of our loved ones. We can each take action by transitioning to healthy, sustainable plant-based diets. Eat for the Earth aids that shift through education, tools, support, partnerships, and love.
In the face of life-threatening health and environmental crises, citizens of Santa Cruz County are extremely concerned about their health, the health of the community, and the state of our environment. Our project educates families, children, and child-serving organizations about the dietary change that promotes vibrant health, reduces risk and severity of COVID, contributes positively to the environment, and tastes great!
We offer presentations, food samplings and demos, nutrition education, mentorship, and resources to support the adoption of healthy, sustainable plant-based diets — in both English and Spanish. Your support could make a world of difference for children, our community, and our Earth!
My doctor referred me to Eat for the Earth’s program. I was curious enough to take this challenge and learn about eating healthy. I learned to taste vegetables and fruits and discovered how delicious they were. This program changed my way of thinking about food. My joint pains have decreased, I feel much better, and I have lost around 20 pounds. I truly recommend this wonderful program.
