To inspire all girls to be strong, smart, and bold™, and to respect themselves and the world around them.
Girls Inc. serves 1,300 girls in 21 schools with research-based programs and trained professionals (often older teens) who mentor them in a safe environment. Girls are inspired to pursue secondary education, develop leadership and decision-making skills, resist peer pressure, serve their communities, and acquire the ability and wisdom to lead healthy lifestyles.
We request your support to provide leadership mentoring for sophomores and juniors in high school to encourage post-secondary education, planning for careers, valuing themselves, and developing an action plan to achieve their goals.
Participants in this program will learn life skills to help them make good choices now and in the future. Our goal is 100 girls who will meet twice a month during the school year and participate in 14 interactive sessions that include the following topics:
Planning for a College Education; Careers; Basic Health/Nutrition; Families, Culture and How They Shape Our Attitudes; Public Speaking, Policy and the Importance of Voting; Budgeting; and Entering the Workplace (by exposing girls to role models, when possible in nontraditional fields).
Thank you for your contribution!
Girls Inc. has given me the opportunity to think about my future. In the program I had a chance to visit colleges, talk about careers, and practice my leadership skills. I have grown so much and really found a place that allows me to express myself. Girls Inc. has truly helped me become strong, smart, and bold!
