Organization Mission
With compassion and excellence, we support all people of all ages through the journey of serious illness and grief, ensuring that no one walks this path alone.
The Big Idea 2025:
Your Choice, Your Journey
At the heart of hospice care is a focus on improving the quality of life, not just extending it. Founded 46 years ago by visionary nurses, Hospice of Santa Cruz County offers holistic care that nurtures the medical, emotional, and spiritual well-being of both patients and their families.
As the only nonprofit hospice provider in Santa Cruz County, we prioritize people over profits, ensuring patients receive high-quality care that honors their goals, values, and choices. We recognize that navigating serious illness can be overwhelming, especially for those facing language challenges, fear of the medical system, or cultural barriers. Hospice of Santa Cruz County is committed to overcoming these barriers through accessible care, education, and grief support—offering services in both English and Spanish. Our vision as a local, community-minded hospice and palliative care provider is to ensure that everyone in our community can live and die with dignity.
Please support us in delivering compassionate care when needed most. Your gift, up to $1,000, will be doubled thanks to a generous matching gift from the Thompson Non-Endowed Donor-Advised Fund.
Your tender care helped me be present with my beloved during their journey home. You nurtured us both. I am grateful for your help and support throughout the grieving process. I am thankful for you. You are angels truly on Earth.
