Live Like Coco

Organization Mission

Live Like Coco Foundation helps Santa Cruz County children grow up healthy with opportunity to pursue their dreams.

Founded in memory of 12-year-old Coco Lazenby, we focus entirely on literacy, giving away thousands of new books to kids at local public schools, at community giveaways and at little free libraries we’ve placed throughout the community.

The Big Idea 2026:
Bookmobile Project

In 2024, we also launched our very own bookmobile. The past two summers, we partnered with PVUSD to drive it to every summer school site, as well as several community events, such as Farmers’ Markets and the World’s Shortest Parade. This year, we gave out 4,000 new books to local students through this partnership. And we painted the bookmobile with rainbows and books so you can really see us!

We want to expand this work to do one community event each month throughout the county. These donations will pay for a driver, operating cost of the bookmobile for four hours per event, and new books — especially books kids love, such as Dog Man and the Baby-Sitters Club.

Every one of my students who saw the bookmobile this summer reminded me about it! It leaves such a cool impression on these kids. They feel so special.
