Motion Pacific is a 501(c)3 charitable arts organization dedicated to dance as art, cultivating imagination, community engagement and discipline through accessible dance education and presentation.
We elevate access to movement and expressive arts for specific underserved communities, including people with Parkinson’s Disease, BIPOC community members and LGBTQI+ communities.
We offer free, weekly classes that serve critical needs for exercise, mental health, community and meaningful exchange for those diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease and their caregivers, making it available for underserved and financially strained community members.
After losing funding for Dance for Parkinson’s in the pandemic, we are turning to our community to join us in our commitment to fostering equal access to this program that cultivates well-being, socialization and exercise clinically proven to support the health of people with PD.
With support from Santa Cruz Gives, we hope to grow our reach and partner with assisted living homes, in-home care providers, physical therapists and local neurologists specializing in movement disorders to ensure anyone diagnosed with PD can participate in these life changing classes.
We are the only Dance for Parkinson’s class offered in the county, and our experienced and trained teachers provide individualized instruction that is modified to meet the needs of every participant.
My spirits are lifted when I'm in the company of other dancers. My body enjoys this activity as well, and rewards me after each session with a feeling of well-being, freeing my mind of concern and negative thoughts also gifting me with moments of peace.
