Pajaro Valley Shelter Services provides families with a path to stable, self-sufficient futures through short-and longer-term housing and supportive services.
In the last three years, PVSS served an average of 232 individuals annually. 79% of PVSS families exited to permanent housing, 53% exited with savings for housing; and 66% of adults exited successfully with employment. We operate a structured, drug- and alcohol-free program within a warm, secure environment.
Many parents face emotional instability. The stress of securing basic needs like shelter, food, safety and
stability can push mental health concerns to the background. They are able to address emotional issues and build resiliency through our Family Strengthening workshops. We help parents identify ACEs (Adverse Childhood Experiences) and learn tools necessary to respond in a healthy way to move forward successfully. An in-house counselor is a beacon of light and guidance for parents as they confront and resolve issues that may have been buried for decades.
We have seen a 51% increase in the number of adults participating in this program and a 33% increase in self-assessment scores upon exit for participating adults (vs. a target increase of 20%). Please help us build a brighter future for local parents and their children.
Mireya validated my feelings when no one else had, not even other counselors.
