PDCR envisions a thriving and fully resourced community based on mutually respectful relationships, where all children, youth, families, and community members experience joy, peace and belonging. PDCR uplifts healthy, respectful relationships at home and in the community by offering classes, support groups, coaching, and professional development resources to Santa Cruz County families, schools, and
service providers, leading to healthier, safer and more just societies.
Parenting is hard! It is humbling and can feel isolating at times. Your gift helps us create greater access to Positive Discipline’s whole-child, whole-family relationship-based approach for 1,000+ families across our diverse county.
Our program is evidence-based, trauma-informed, culturally-responsive, and developmentally appropriate, providing 120+ programs year-round in English, Spanish and Mixteco (Indigenous language to Oaxaca, Mexico). We receive more requests for parenting support than we can fill. Beyond parenting skills for difficult child behaviors, our training breaks cycles of harm and is deeply healing. Your gift supports our “connection before correction” programs via coaching, workshops, classes, playgroups, and parent/youth learning groups.
We shift heart, homes, and school communities away from threats and bribes (strategies that invoke shame, blame, and guilt) for encouraging and empowering social and life skills.
We were never taught what to do. I know I hurt my son, especially my oldest and I never want to go back to punishment when discipline is what our kids really need. I really love this program and am so glad I got to do it with my husband.
