Planned Parenthood Mar Monte, Inc.

Organization Mission

Planned Parenthood Mar Monte (PPMM) is a trusted resource, providing accessible, compassionate health care in our four regional health centers. PPMM invests in communities by providing health care and education, and by expanding rights and
access for all.

In the past year in Santa Cruz County, PPMM served more than 10,500 patients. Many of our patients at the Westside and Watsonville health centers are from lower-income populations. 68% live at or below 100% of the Federal Poverty Level, and 92% live below 200% of the FPL.

The Big Idea 2024:
Together We Rise. We Resist. We Care.

December marks 18 months since the Dobbs decision took away our federal constitutional right to safe and legal abortion. Planned Parenthood Mar Monte has worked hard to deliver timely care as people seeking abortion are forced to travel hundreds or even thousands of miles, endure longer wait times, and risk their health and safety.

The same lawmakers who advocate against abortion access are also threatening the livelihoods of those in the LGBTQIA+ community, especially our transgender neighbors. PPMM has spent years preparing for this seemingly unimaginable time and we will never back down. In all 34 of our health centers, patients can access kind and compassionate gender-affirming care. We are building new and expanding current health centers near airports and transportation hubs, training more abortion providers, and expanding services so we can provide care to all patients no matter what.

I work in one of our health centers, and the number of patients I’ve seen coming from out of state to receive basic health care is staggering. Utah, Nevada, Texas — so many young, scared people who have been made to feel alone for their choice to have an abortion.
