Senderos creates pathways to success and builds community by sharing Latino culture through traditional arts and by fostering educational opportunities. Senderos, meaning pathways, provides equitable access to after-school folkloric dance and traditional music classes.
Senderos creates a sense of belonging for immigrant families, preserving their cultural traditions across generations.
Our free after-school Mexican dance and music program for Latino youth, most of whom are low-income, offers instruments, outfits, instruction, and performance opportunities while promoting culture, confidence, and academic success.
Senderos youth proudly showcase their talent in 25 events reaching 10,000 in attendance, and are encouraged to achieve their dreams for college and career. Our volunteer-driven organization wants Mexican immigrant youth to find cultural pride in the face of racism, and avoid gang involvement and substance use.
Senderos helped me feel proud of my culture and gave me the confidence to keep going in school. Now I’m the first in my family to attend college.
