The Bike Church is a community bicycle repair shop that provides tools, shop space, and mentorship for a diverse community to learn, share knowledge, and effectively repair bicycles for low to no cost. We promote safe bicycling for transport and recreation, reuse materials destined for landfill, and provide space for learning and empowerment.
Education and community are what makes our shop unique. Your support will allow us to expand our education program by offering sliding-scale beginner-to-advanced level workshops. Building out our volunteer program will serve as a training ground for people to develop employable skills in the bike industry, will create a greater sense of community ownership of the shop, and will provide an avenue for experienced community members to give back.
We hope to add:
• 12 monthly Intro to Bike Mechanics workshops
• 6 advanced workshops (e.g., Wheel-building 101, Intro to Bike Building, Intro to Bike Touring)
• 12 monthly volunteer events (5-10 volunteers each session)
• A 2-5 hours/week volunteer & education coordinator
What a fantastic space. The staff are genuine, knowledgeable, and helpful, the space is inviting and open to all members of the community, and the prices are second to none.
