Organization Mission
The mission of Walnut Avenue is to end cycles of trauma, support lifelong learning, and promote healthy relationships with oneself and others.
Walnut Avenue is a strength-based family center that has provided services for women, children, and families in Santa Cruz County for 90 years. Many participants are from underserved populations, lack of stable housing, and/or domestic violence. Programs include an Early Education Center, Services for Children & Youth, Services for Survivors of Domestic Violence, Family Support Services, and Community Engagement.
The Big Idea 2025:
"A New Normal"
This project is designed to gain more focus on our Early Education Center (daycare/preschool), and family needs. EEC is one of few subsidized childcare centers in the city of Santa Cruz.
For 50 years now, our team has worked with local families who receive childcare for little or no cost, as we aim to provide them with community resources and specialized care. We are thrilled that this program is a success, however, these families still struggle with limited school supplies, car seats, back to school clothes/shoes and more. Our hope is to inspire consistency, confidence, and care, and to help reduce stress, fear and inequity.
Thank you for your support!
If you ask what Walnut Avenue Women's Center means to me, it means that my life is mine again. I feel like myself again. I feel free, I feel safe, I feel strong, I feel loved.
