We Did It!

And please come back in November, 2022!
Monterey Bay Economic Partnership (MBEP) envisions a thriving region with quality jobs, excellent education, and first-rate health care while preserving the natural beauty of our beautiful environment.
MBEP’s strategy is to create and implement initiatives aligned with this vision in housing, broadband, workforce development, and climate change. We convene local leaders, promote equitable economic development, and provide data to inform positive change.
MBEP’s Student Ambassador Program provides meaningful internship opportunities for students in the region to cultivate a strong local workforce and advance important initiatives. Our initiatives cover the region’s most pressing issues: housing, climate change, transportation, workforce development, and broadband.
The idea is to match qualified students enrolled at local colleges with these initiatives. The program provides remote work opportunities and is designed to align with student’s academic and professional interests to cultivate talent development, mentorship, and real-world work experience.
Students are immersed in a nonprofit setting, learning how to lead and manage community-driven projects and they also get to be part of an integral network of community partners providing critical services and resources while gaining a suite of transferable skills, and more. At the end of their internship, students are awarded a stipend.
As a Cabrillo College student, the Student Ambassador Program has been incredibly beneficial to my academic and career path, especially contributing to my college transfer applications. It led to a paid internship position, focused on local issues in Santa Cruz, and I gained more experience toward my career goals.
