Special Parents Information Network

Organization Mission

SPIN is dedicated to providing support, information, training, community, and resources to the families and guardians of children and adults with special needs. SPIN is dedicated to helping every child reach their full potential by empowering their families and the professionals that serve them.

The Big Idea 2022:
Mental Health Support for SPIN Families

We currently provide parent-to-parent support through our mentor parent program and parent-led support groups, and informational workshops and trainings for families who have children with special needs.

With your support we would like to offer SPIN parents free sessions with a licensed therapist — both group and individual sessions with English and Spanish speaking therapists. Access to mental health counseling can be too costly for many of our families, and services in both languages is a high need.

We have locations in Watsonville and Santa Cruz, and work to ensure that all families who have a child with an IEP, IFSP, or 504 in the County have access to support, resources, and information services. We work directly with the Santa Cruz County Office of Education, Pajaro Valley Unified School District, and San Andreas Regional Center.

SPIN has helped me find and meet other parents, who are now my good friends, who have a child with the same challenges as my own. SPIN also helped me in a time need with providing my family and I with much needed supplies during lock down.

We’re In This Together

Nonprofits are more important that ever in this trying time. Santa Cruz Gives! was created to support the local nonprofit community's Big Ideas (and programs). And thanks to your participation and generosity, Santa Cruz Gives! raised over $1.10 million for 82 local nonprofits in 2021.

SCGives! has now raised and contributed over $36 million dollars since its inception Seven years ago. That’s astounding. And wonderful. Thank you to all our Partners, Sponsors, nonprofit Board Directors, staff and volunteers — and each of our 1,455 donors. We did it, together.
